AIS is a valuable safety tool. When used with piloting software, or simply overlaid on a chart, it
will give you an instant picture of what ships in your vicinity are doing, including:

- Line of sight CPAs
- CPAs relative to planned track
- Other vessel details
- Own vessel information
AIS data is fed to each ship through the pilot plug on the bridge. Unfortunately, these plugs are often
wired incorrectly. This means that when using many AIS devices, the data you receive will be useless.
AISPilot is cleverly designed to recognise and correct all wiring and baud rate mistakes, meaning you
get usable AIS data every time. It is also wireless, so you can move easily around the bridge and out
onto the bridge wing.
