Navicom Dynamics market-leading product for offshore applications has just taken on a new capability.
Not content with only providing the pilot with an accurate picture of what is going on positionally between the two vessels, Navicom Dynamics is now offering customers who need it, the possibility to give the pilot control in an emergency situation.
When moored up to an FSO or FPSO, oil, gas or condensate is being pumped at very high rates across the link between the two vessels. If a problem were to occur that could potentially end up with a major spill into the ocean, or endanger the life of the crew on either vessel, then it is possible the pilot might be the first to see this occurring.
During the time taken for the pilot to contact the FSO/FPSO by radio to stop the pumping process, considerably more damage may occur.
To speed up this shutdown process, Navicom Dynamics has designed a system which will give the pilot the ability to remotely shutdown the pumping process, simply by pushing a button on his remote device.
This new enhancement will be first commissioned on the new Woodside FPSO "OKHA", which is being prepared to replace the Cossack Pioneer FPSO on the North West Shelf of Australia.
